Flying Fish Seafood Trivia Night

Monday, February 17th, 6-7:30pm — Flying Fish Co., Portland, OR

Flying Fish will be hosting a seafood trivia night! Come enjoy seaweed bites and seafood trivia hosted by marine biologist Alanna Kieffer of Shifting Tides NW and Oregon Seaweed. You'll learn lots about Oregon’s seafood and seaweed industries, oceanography, marine science, and conservation, all while competing for some rad prizes! Tickets include a local seafare appetizer. Bring your appetite because Flying Fish’s entire regular menu will be available for purchase, and Chef Erik Englund has even come up with a couple seaweed-centric menu specials for the evening.

A portion of ticket sales go to support The Oregon Kelp Alliance, a 501(c)(3), working to restore Oregon's wild kelp forest ecosystems.

Please note that this event takes place in a heated outdoor area. It gets quite toasty, but wear layers to make sure you’re comfortable.

Flying Fish Co. is a sustainable seafood establishment that combines a fish market, restaurant, and oyster bar. Founded by Lyf Gildersleeve, a second-generation fishmonger, this business emphasizes responsibly sourced seafood and has evolved from its initial food cart beginnings to a full-service dining venue! The menu features dishes such as fish and chips, fish sandwiches, grilled salmon salad, clam chowder, cioppino, steamed clams and mussels, poke, ceviche, and freshly shucked oysters. Check out the menu HERE.

Thank you for with a Witner Waters partner, Flying Fish! We appreciate your dedication to providing Portlanders with incredible sustainable seafood.

About Us

Winter Waters is an Oregon-born initiative dedicated to promoting seaweed as a superfood culinary ingredient and enhancing local Oregon coast food systems. Our mission is to bridge the gap between consumers and sustainable seafood sources through education and shared meals.

Each February, Winter Waters collaborates with chefs and tastemakers to celebrate local seafood! The state of Oregon boasts some of the most sustainable fisheries in the world, yet much of the seafood produced is exported, and a significant portion of consumed seafood is imported (about 90%!). There is a disconnect between the people and the process and we’d like to help bridge this gap through education and delicious culinary experiences.
