RECAP: Ocean Trivia at Sisu Brewing

Turns out we LOVE ocean trivia, and so does the community! In support of Sisu Brewery being the first Winter Waters partner to create a seaweed beer, we thought it was only appropriate to host a free trivia night at their massive venue. Sisu, located in Seaside in the old Times Theater, is a huge venue with seats for about 300 people. There’s plenty of tables, old theater seats, a balcony, and a HUGE screen and stage.

Seaside really showed up for this one, we had over 60 people (12 teams) present to compete for seaweed prizes. With Alanna of Oregon Seaweed as our trivia host, we got quizzed about all things ocean and marine science related. There were questions on local fisheries, local species, and local ecology.

The game had a total of three rounds, 10 questions per round, giving teams various opportunities to win! Teams each got white boards to respond to each question after about a minute of thinking over with their teammates. Over the three rounds we had three separate winning teams. Winners got to take home prizes generously donated by some amazing seaweed and local seafood producers: Barnacle Foods, Daybreak Seaweed, HAB Sauce, Tiny Fish Co., Blue Evolution, and Oregon Albacore Commission.

Bonus, Sisu Brewing had their seaweed stout, Näkkai, on tap for the event!

There were definitely some knowledgeable ocean science people in the crowd! We were so happy to see a full house for this Seaside event. You can definitely expect to see more of these.
